Loudness
Loudness is one of the greatest features to determine a stressed syllable. The higher the syllable sounds than all other syllables, then the syllable is said to be the stressed syllable.
Length
The longer the syllable sounds than other syllables. Then we can conclude that the syllable pronounced longer is said to be the stressed syllable. However, that is how length of syllable helps in knowing the stressed syllable.

Breath also helps. To get this place your hand in front of your mouth. Immediately, you get to the stressed syllable noted that little amount of air comes out of the mouth. Yes! But take note very well.
Pitch
This is the extent of vibration on the vocal cord. When there is a high vibration along your vocal cord. However, the stressed syllable is located at the point of high vibration. To use this trck touch your vocal cord with one finger try and feel the vibration for a second. Not sure? Keep trying you will soon get it.
Examples:
Democratic
Now, looking firmly to the diagram above you see the example I have shown. If you are not sure of which, of the 4 features to use then use loudness, length, and pitch.
Let see how to do it
1. Pronounce the word for the first time trying to locate the syllable with the highest sound. if it falls on /DE/ mark de for loudness. Note: just for example oo
2. If you test for pitch. Then it falls on /CRA/ mark cra for pitch.
. If you test for length. If it falls on /CRA/ mark CRA for length.
4. In summary, note that CRA to DE. You see it's in ratio of 1:2. So therefore, CRA wins. Feel free to practice this on your own.
